At the onset of last season, one Ontario team stood out ahead of the rest. That team was a new-look Team John Epping that had just acquired Ryan Fry from Team Brad Jacobs in the off-season. They got their fast start last year at our first event of the season, the Stu Sells Oakville Tankard, before rattling off a streak of wins at the Shorty Jenkins Classic and the Canada Cup.
Team Epping has become known for their big moves in the off-season, and being a top team means continually looking to make adjustments and improvements in all areas of the game. The decision to add Ryan Fry from Team Jacobs at third position ultimately led Team Epping to representing Ontario at the Tim Horton's Brier in Kingston last season. With the honeymoon phase now over and the team starting to gel in their second season together, we all eagerly await to see what is in store and if they can put up another win in their first event of the season, The Stu Sells Oakville Tankard. Only one mens curling team has ever won back to back Stu Sells Oakville Tankard titles, Ryan Fry's former team, Team Jacobs!
Our first event of the year is the Stu Sells Oakville Tankard, at the Oakville Curling Club and features Team John Epping with Ryan Fry, Matt Camm, and Brett Laing. Live Stream the event here or come out for free to the event as a spectator at the Oakville Curling Club! We will be following all CDC guidelines and precautions.
